Espy is staffed by professional, trained fashion stylists and denim experts. We believe in loving yourself, your body and spreading love to those around you. Every February we choose a unique way to spread love within the Calgary community by our #spreadloveyyc campaign.
For #spreadloveyyc 2018 espy has teamed up with Alzheimer Society Calgary. The purpose of this partnership is to further bring awareness to a progressive disease that destroys memory and other important mental functions but to also raise money in an effort to further research in hopes we will someday find a cure.
The Alzheimer Society of Calgary is a local, non-profit organization. For thousands of Calgary and area families impacted by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, this is where community, insight, and empowerment begin. Alzheimer Society Calgary works to ensure people impacted by dementia have access to high-quality education, care and support throughout their journey of impact.
Lock It

Inspired by an ancient custom, love locks are a physical symbol of commitment. Locks can symbolize an expression of hope and humanity, a connection with the one thing that unites us all: love. That being said, espy has commissioned an interactive art piece that will be showcased on 9th Avenue for #spreadloveyyc. The heart-shaped sculpture will be placed in front of espy and become a daily interactive exhibit. A place where the commitment of relationships, goals, and achievements can be represented.
The heart-shaped sculpture is the creation of Dieter Striepe of Striepe Millwright Ltd. Constructed of reinforced aluminum, the exhibit will be on display until mid-March. After this, it will become a temporary fixture inside the store until it finds a permanent home in the local community. During #spreadloveyyc we encourage you to come and make a suggested minimum donation of $10 in exchange for a love-lock that you can write on and affix to the sculpture. 100% of proceeds go directly to Alzheimer Society Calgary.
Make the Promise
We are encouraging you to come down and make the promise to yourself and the ones you love by locking that promise to the sculpture. That promise could be as simple as the goal of fitting into that little black number again or as complex as committing yourself to something deeper. Take the time to manifest it into something special this #spreadloveyyc month at espy.
