“I just received your latest e-letter and wanted to send you a testimonial so I could be entered in to win a pair of jeans.

Last November (2010) I was talking to my sister in law about my wife’s Christmas present.  I had explained that I wanted to find someone who would go shopping with Shauna, who would listen to her needs and who would suggest things to buy that were not only in our price range, but would also be things that she would be comfortable wearing.  I needed an expert that wouldn’t push what they wanted onto Shauna, but would instead encourage her to try things that she might not normally try, but essentially Shauna would still had the final say on everything.

My sister in law had heard about this great little store in Inglewood that had a great owner who also offered personal styling services.  I called down to Espy and spoke with Megan and immediately knew that Shauna was in good hands.  Megan showed up at our house on a Saturday morning and for two hours went through our closet.  She asked Shauna to throw a bunch of clothes that she never wears into a couple of garbage bags (I later found out that Megan donated the clothes to Women In Need).  After hiding out in our closet for almost two hours discussing what Shauna wanted, the girls went shopping to Espy and Chinook Centre.  They were gone for 11 hours.

Shauna came home and we had a little fashion show.  It was the best part of my day, if you know what I mean!!

To date Shauna says this is the best gift I’ve ever given her.  I think it had everything to do with Megan and the staff at Espy.  Megan and Shauna clicked and I really appreciated how Megan was with Shauna.  Even now, when we go to the store, Megan always remembers Shauna by name and is just as attentive now as the day she was at our home.

Megan and her staff get that buying clothes should be fun and affordable.  They take the mystery out of shopping by showing both sexes (I’m an Espy customer too) what works for their body shape.  How cuts of a shirt can make you look younger, slimmer and cooler.  Who doesn’t want to feel all those things when you buy something new?!  The vibe is always cool in the store and I’ve even taken my 66 year old dad shopping there.  There aren’t many stores anywhere in the world that you could fight over who had first spotted a cool shirt or pair of pants with your 66 year old father and not feel out of place.

“I’ve been thinking of sending in a testimonial for a few days now, and when I received your newsletter today stating you are looking for testimonials, I decided it’s the perfect time.

I bought a Groupon for Espy jeans a few months ago.  I had no idea what to expect from the store, but it was a good deal on jeans and the ”professional fitting” was a great selling point for me.  I have gained
some weight since having my two children, and it hasn’t come off.  My self-esteem has crashed, and I hate, hate, hate shopping.  I especially hate shopping when I see the sales-staff are all gorgeous, skinny/fit. I automatically assume I hear people laughing behind me, and that nothing in the store will fit.  To be honest, if it weren’t for the Groupon, I wouldn’t have even entered your store.  I’m glad I did,
though, because what a fantastic experience.

The staff are super helpful, and one of the ladies stayed with me the entire time.  They put me at ease, and to my shock, even fit me in a fantastic looking & feeling pair of jeans.  They took one look at me and
knew my size.  It was amazing to enter the store feeling self-conscious, and leave the store feeling good about myself.  I mentioned when I lost my weight I would be back.  The staff said – why wait?  They showed me quite a few options for my current weight, and a lot of options to get excited about when I do get back to my goal weight.

I have always hated jean shopping.  It pretty much tops the list of most hated shopping adventures, right up there with buying a swimsuit *shudder*.  I also hate the lack of customer service in most retail stores these days.   Jean shopping is just that much harder when you don’t have a friend along to help give you that friendly feedback. And this is where things got very different at espy…

From the minute I walked in to espy I was greeted, asked if I’d been there before and was given the run down on how things worked.  Clark did an amazing job of making me feel comfortable and helped me pick out sizes and styles of jeans that worked great for my body type and always made sure to give me honest feedback. (An absolute must!).   Nothing’s worse then asking someone in a store for their opinion and they tell you the 3 sizes too small pair of jeans looks “so perfect!” just to make a sale. I really loved how helpful everyone was in the store.  When one pair of jeans wasn’t quite right they all helped me find that perfect pair.  Kudos to you all for changing how I look at jean shopping! I will definitely be coming back and sending all my friends (and husband) your way!”

“LOL. Love it. I came in a little while ago looking for new jeans, but I didn’t have a clear idea of exactly what I wanted. One of the Stylists chose a stack of options for me, and I headed into the change room. She told me to come out and show her every pair so she could help me find the best one. Most of them were good, but not quite right. So she grabbed a pair of Fidelitys for me to try. I put them on and loved them from the front, but they gave me the worst long/flat mom bum I had ever seen. I told the stylists that through the door, and that I wasn’t even going to show them, but they said that I had to show them because that was impossible for those Fidelitys. So I came out and both stylists agreed with me – “OH NO. ABSOLUTELY NOT. TAKE THOSE OFF.” I love to shop with my twin sister because I can count on her for honest feedback. ITS SO REFRESHING to get that kind of honesty and that’s why ESPY’s staff are true STYLISTS! We kept trying until we found some jeans that give me a fabulous butt I’ll try another pair of Fidelitys next time and hopefully I’ll be mom-butt free THANKS ESPY!”

I initially came to ESPY because I had a Groupon for 100 dollars off. When I read the details I saw the note about the customized jeans fitting, but I assumed that it just meant there would be a lot of styles to choose from. Instead, I had several different staff members providing advice on everything from cut, rise height, wash and pocket position. They even managed to convince me to try on a pair of skinny jeans- something I thought I would never do! In the end, the skinny jeans were my favorites, and I never would have considered trying them on if the staff at ESPY hadn’t convinced me to give it a shot. Not only that, they helped to show me how I could style my new jeans to get the best effect. In the first two weeks after I bought my jeans, I wore them 4 times!
