On Saturday, November 17th, 2012 the espy stylists put on the 3rd annual #nakedespy fundraiser for the Calgary Prostate Cancer Center.
We asked 100 men to line up outside our doors in their underwear for $5oo of clothes for FREE when they made a donation to the local Prostate Cancer Center. The line-up proved to be an 8 hour wait for almost half of our participants! But boy did these guys enjoy their day in the balmy November weather! We lucked out with a BEAUTIFUL day to GET NAKED and raise some money for the PCC.

The fun never stopped all day! When the guys stripped down at 3pm, DJ Jon Spade turned up the music and the party officially started. CTV’s Camilla Di Giuseppe and X92.9′s James Callsen mc’d the entire #nakedespy event – getting the crowd pumped up while they explained the importance of GETTING CHECKED, raising awareness for men’s health, and how much fun it can be to do so!
Camilla and James also announced winners for the Mr. Nakedespy Contest! Big thanks to all our winners for being super cute, super nice, super charitable, super muscular, slightly hairy, and half naked.

Cara Fullerton from Define Fitness got the blood flowing with a work-out like you’ve never seen. I mean, can you really imagine 100 guys in their underwear trying to look as good as Cara??

Finally it was time the GET STYLED! Our participants walked in the doors wearing nothing but boxers, and were transformed by the espy stylists into the most stylish group of guys YYC has ever seen on a Saturday night! But we didn’t send them out right away…we kept them around for espy’s biggest party ever.
Participants enjoyed their unlimited cocktails courtesy of Molson at both Limitless and espy. HUGE thanks from espy and the participants to Limitless owner Bruce MacMillan for letting us share your beautiful space for the #nakedespy fundraiser.

And if $500 of clothing for free, beers from Molson, wine for the non-beer drinkers, and TWO party locations weren’t enough…the AMAZING Garter Girls got a little naked themselves with performances by Miyuki Divine, Gardenia Rose, and Raven Virginia and of course the lovely Roxie. Miyuki wowed the crowd at espy with a burlesque performance to Gangnam Style…what a show!
And of course, this wild night was all for a good cause and couldn’t have happened without the amazing sponsors, participants, volunteers, and dedicated espy staff.

#nakedespy is on SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 17th! We’ve been around the block a few times now…and our experience watching 100 guys stand outside espy in their undies has provided us with a certain type of wisdom. And this wisdom has helped us to develop an informative SURVIVAL GUIDE for all our #nakedespy line-up participants this year. These tips could mean the difference between…well…being cold or being VERY cold…
1. YOU DO NOT STRIP DOWN TO YOUR UNDERWEAR UNTIL 3PM! So what does this mean?
-Winter clothing is a MUST. Please dress as warmly as possible! Parkas, snow pants, toques, mittens, scarves. (ADVICE: pretend you are going snowboarding).
-If you have portable heaters – bring them! Anyone next to you in line will be very appreciative!
-Blankets are a great idea too – snuggle up with you neighbors in line!
2. DONATIONS
-Donation minimum is $100 to participate!
-To help us speed up the styling and donation process, we are asking for donations in cash or cheque.
-However, debit and credit donations will be accepted.
3. ARRIVAL TIMES
-We know everyone is worried about what time you should be in line in order to be one of the first 100 and therefore guaranteed the $500 of sponsored clothing. Remember that you MUST be in line by 3pm on Saturday!
-3am is too early….just saying! However…if you really are that anxious, tweet us and let us know you are THE FIRST to arrive!
4. TWITTER
-Please TWEET @espyexperience with the hashtag #nakedespy ALL DAY! Help us trend on Twitter!
-TWEET photos to @espyexperience and @CalgaryHerald
-Share your photos and tag espy on Facebook!
5. FOOTWEAR
-As stylists, it is our DUTY to make sure that you guys understand that the winter boots you are wearing in the line up WILL NOT GO WITH YOUR NEW OUTFIT for the #nakedespy After Party.
-We suggest you bring a pair of dress shoes or low profile sneakers for the party – you definitely do not want to look silly at a fashionable party, do you? Especially after you’ve been so well styled!
6. 18+ EVENT!
-This year’s event is an 18+ event…and that is because of our amazing sponsor Molson!
-However, if you are under the age of 18 and want to participate in the line-up, you still can. But you can only be styled and then unfortunately…you have to leave! And you won’t be allowed to attend Happy Hour.
7. HAT HAIR
-#nakedespy 2012 might just have to be a bad hair kind of party….unless you bring some hair product with you…
8. PARKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (VERY IMPORTANT!!)
-PLEASE DO NOT PARK in front of the store!!! The PCC MAN VAN, Melrose, WOP, AND 500 Cucina all need to be able to park out front of the store.
-Please either park at the back of the building in the outdoor lot or underground! You cars will be safe and sound there.
9. STYLING PROCESS
-Past participants will know that the styling process can be a touch on the wild side – we have 8 stylists and 100 guys to dress. It is no easy task!
-Please be patient as you are waiting for your turn to be styled. We have enough items to give away for EVERY SINGLE participant! No one will leave empty handed! And everyone who has participated and donated will receive the full $500 of sponsored items.
-Remember that this year’s event includes DESIGUAL HAPPY HOUR! That means, that as you are waiting to be styled, you can join your friends, guests, VIPS, and celebrity hosts Camilla Di Giuseppe and James Callsen at Limitless. It’s a party you won’t want to miss!
-We are styling everyone in groups of 32. Which means, there will only be approximately 30 to 40 participants at espy at any given time to be styled. Your number will be called out at Limitless and you will be brought over to espy to be styled.
-Basically…you get to party instead of wait this year! Make sure you remember your number and make sure you are listening for your number to be called!
10. YOUR GUESTS!
-Remember that part of your participation in #nakedespy gets you 2 guests into Desigual Happy Hour and the #nakedespy After Party….where there are TONS of DESIGUAL and espy PRIZES to be given away, burlesque performances, boudoir photobooth, Mr. Nakedespy Contest…Rickard’s…Wine…Food from Melrose, 500 Cucina, WOP…

#nakedespy is a fundraiser for the Calgary Prostate Cancer Center, which is organized and hosted by us – espy experience – the affordable designer boutique located in Inglewood. Each November, espy asks men of all ages to participate in #nakedespy by stripping down to their skivvies and waiting in line, outside espy’s doors, for FREE clothes with a donation to the CPCC. Last November, espy outfitted 100 men for free! They showed up in their undies, braved the freezing November chill, and left looking super stylish in sponsored clothing from some of espy’s favourite brands. But before they walked out our doors, they left major donations behind – #nakedespy 2011 raised over $9,200 for the CPCC!

This year’s #nakedespy is doing things a little differently! Participating men will be asked to stand outside espy in their underwear on the AFTERNOON of November 17th for a FREE outfit valued at $500 with a minimum $100 donation to the Calgary Prostate Cancer Center. Guys in line will enjoy tons of free giveaways and participate in the first part of the Mr. Nakedespy contest. Being one of the first 100 men in line doesn’t only guarantee you the sponsored clothing, but also entrance for you and 2 guests into espy’s exclusive #nakedespy party! All the underwear clad participants will be brought in for styling and the party at 4:30pm!
The #nakedespy party is what happens when the line-up is over! As soon as we bring all the guys in from the cold, the party will begin while the guys get styled by the espy stylists and make their donations to the Calgary Prostate Cancer Center.
Desigual Happy Hour consists of 2 hours of giveaways from espy’s popular Spanish clothing label, Desigual! Desigual holds Happy Hour at their stores across Europe where they have 100s of balloons hanging from the ceiling with prizes attached. espy will be one of the very first independent North American retailers to hold a Desigual Happy Hour. There are 100 Desigual prizes to be given away – including a Desigual coat! And even more prizes from espy included! Just imagine Megan holding more than 100 balloons to give away to special guests…
Desigual Happy Hour will take place at Limitless – espy’s neighbor in the Art Block building! Limitless is right next door to espy - 1011 9 Ave SE. Check out the GORGEOUS furniture while Megan hands out Desigual and espy prizes. Sip your complimentary cocktails when you donate to the CPCC!
All Happy Hour attendees will be invited to the #nakedespy party at espy at 6:30pm. You will be led to espy, after a special performance from the Garter Girls, where your prizes and 100 men in their underwear will be waiting!

The line-up will be super fun with lots of giveaways and the first part of our Mr. Nakedespy Contest – click here for more info on the categories! We will crown Mr. Muscles, Mr. Undies, and Mr. Cutie while we’re outside – so you’re going to want to look your best for the espy stylists! Additional prizes will be given to winners.
Of course you’ll have to work out a little too! We all know the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle in the prevention of any disease.
Melrose will be back for the 3rd year in a row – this time bringing their brand new food truck!
Gravity will keep everyone warm by providing the coffee for all participants.
Styling will be begin PROMPTLY at 4:30pm. Remember – only the first 100 guys in line will receive the free clothing and entrance into the #nakedespy party. So make sure you time it right – we suggest 1pm, but you may need to be at espy even earlier!
PLEASE bring lots of warm clothes! If you have a portable heater, please bring that as well. We cannot predict the weather – but we’re going to assume that it will be pretty chilly by the middle of November. You will not be asked to strip down to your undies until 3pm. So dress warm and bring layers!
Donations will be made after you have been styled. We are asking for donations in either cash or cheque as it will speed up the process at the till. However, if you have sponsors that would like to donate to your cause through credit card, they can donate online on the CPCC’s website. Click here for the link. Thank you to ALL the participants of #nakedespy, held on Saturday, November 5 – espy experience’s prostate cancer fundraiser was a HUGE success! Everyone made it through the cold and made it out looking AMAZING in their brand new espy clothes after making very generous donations to the Calgary Prostate Cancer Centre. Together we have raised over $9000 – with more donations still to come! We know we can hit our $10 000 goal!

1. What is #nakedespy?
#nakedespy is a prostate cancer fundraiser with all donations going to the Calgary Prostate Cancer Center. This is the second year espy is holding the fundraiser and we hope to double what we raised last year by increasing the number of participants and upping the amount of clothes we can give away. Basically, we all know that whether we have been touched by cancer ourselves or have someone in our life affected by it, it’s an issue we will all continue to deal with until we have raised enough funds for research and enough awareness for early detection. #nakedespy is one of a million fundraisers for cancer out there – what makes this event special is that espy is a small, independent business thriving in a not-so-great economy, and super excited to give back in a cheeky way. 3. What time do I need to show up?
EARLY! You don’t want to miss out on the opportunity for $500 worth of clothes for FREE! DJ Jon Spade will be here spinning all morning, the CrossFit Ramsay guys are showing up for a little line up surprise, and the Calgary Prostate Cancer Center’s Man Van will be outside at 8:30am for PSA testing on any of the men in line over 40. Make sure you are here before 10am!
4. Where is espy?
Don’t forget that we have moved locations into the new Art Block building in Inglewood at 1009 9th Ave SE.
5. Can I bring a sweater or a blanket?
Of course, but the idea is that you are in line in your underwear. But definitely bring something or someone 
to warm up with!
6. What is the suggested donation to the Calgary Prostate Cancer Center?
We are suggesting a $100 donation to the CPCC. Let’s raise some serious cash for prostate cancer!
7. What if I am a student and don’t have $100 to donate?
Get yourself sponsored! Print a sponsorship form by clicking here (#nakedespy donation form). Any donation over $10 will receive a tax receipt from the CPCC.
8. What do I get?
If you are one of the first 50 guys to line up in your underwear and make a donation to the CPCC, you will receive $500 of clothes for FREE and time with espy’s fashion stylists. If you are part of the second 50 in line in your underwear, you get $300 of clothes for FREE!
9. What if I am guy number 101 to 150?
50% off with a donation to the CPCC! WOO!
