Amelia McIlmoyle

Amelia is espy’s trendy eastern Canadian fashionista! She grew up in Petersborough, Ontario watching and swooning over everything on Fashion Television, which helped her develop her innate instinct to what’s in and what’s out in the world of fashion. Amelia is a chameleon – she rarely wears jeans and loves to change up her look with full skirts, textured tights, and bright lipstick.

After high school, Amelia played around with a few programs and careers that involved fashion. She took a cosmetology course in Petersborough where she learned about makeup. As a self-proclaimed artist, Amelia moved into the world of photography where she learned her skills with the different companies she worked for. Eventually, Amelia registered for the fashion design program at George Brown College in Toronto. However, as she moved through her studies, she realized that it wasn’t the design part of fashion that moved her.

So she left school, packed up, and made her way to Calgary with four friends on a cross country road-trip. After staying in Calgary for awhile, she decided to make the visit permanent. She enrolled in the Fashion Marketing program at the Olds College Campus in Calgary, where she found her love for visual merchandising.

She worked as the visual merchandiser for a few retail companies, but it was when she found the ad for a stylist at espy that she knew she had a chance to blend her love of merchandising with a newer field to her – personal styling. Being a stylist at espy means Amelia has the opportunity to share her chic vision of what-to-wear-with-what-and-why as well as to create a personal connection using her fashionable and artistic qualities. “I want to work for something that has soul.”

With Amelia as your stylist, you can feel comfortable working with someone who has a strong personal style and a confident knowledge of trends. She is soft spoken and never over-bearing, however, she loves to get her clients in fashion forward pieces.

Amelia’s style is instantly recognizable in the store. She is always on-trend and loves to make a statement in at least one special piece per outfit. Her style is feminine, pretty, and involves a lot of skirts. No matter what she is wearing, she likes to add some element of girlishness to it – even if it’s as simple as pearl earrings. You will often find her wearing a pop shoe and her hair is always perfectly sleek and straight.

Along with styling, Amelia is espy’s visual merchandiser. She is the creative mind behind all of our beautiful displays and windows, and she keeps the store looking fabulous!

Amelia believes that fashion is an expression so, naturally, her advice is to never get stuck in that old familiar comfort zone. She suggests using accessories or makeup to switch it up! “Don’t care about what other people think – if you love it, just wear it and you’ll own it!”
